A book by the name of Divergent by Veronia C. Roth, became quite famous and adored but was also turned into a movie with quite a few scene changes. This book/movie both take place in future-Chicago after the war. The protagonist Beatrice -who later became known as Tris- is among other characters such as Four, Eric, Al, Uriah, Will, Christina, Caleb, and her mother Nicole. In the movie not all the named characters are the shown actors but the important ones in the movie are Tris, Four, Eric, Christina, Will and Al. The book/movie is about a 16-year old girl by the name of Tris who finds out she is Divergent and has to hide it from EVERYBODY! She has to keep her uniqueness hidden because people are threatened by her kind but later on she finds out there is one like her, Four, and everybody is truly and deeply threatened by them. By keeping her identity safe, it is keeping her alive.
There are  lot of differences between the book and the movie but there are also quite a few similarities also such as, Tris choosing Dauntless and the Dauntless initiates having to perform initiation obstacles. In both the book and the movie, at the choosing ceremony, Tris cuts her hand with the sharply bladed knife an pours the dripping blood of hers over and into the bowl of burning coals which is the symbol for Dauntless. By doing that, she chose Dauntless. All of the Dauntless initiates along with the Dauntless-born have to perform these crazy wild obstacles and pass initiation to become a Dauntless. These obstacles consist of jumping onto roofs, jumping off of roofs, fighting each other, shooting, aiming, and facing your fears -all of which were supported in the book and movie.
As I said, there are many differences between the book and movie, so here is one. In the book Tris and Four grow feelings for each other and then invest their feelings for each other into a relationship. Although, it doesn't happen like that. Four allows Tris to come back to his home and then kissing happen between them, she tell him she wans to take things slow and he agrees. The next day at lunch he completely ignores her and acts as if she is nothing to him and they aren't together. Later on, he tells her he did that because people can't know their together until after initiation because people will think he had something to do with her rankings and they will get in trouble. After initiation was over they kissed in front of everybody. Whereas in the movie the lunch scene didn't happen and nobody knew they were together until after they escaped the Dauntless and the Erudite.
Another difference was the fight scene between Molly and Tris. Tris won this fight and fought in anger. Tris was mad about Peter, Molly, and Drew purposely trying to ruin her and always picking on her. Tris got tired of them picking on her and doing stupid stuff to her and against her, so when she got her chance to fight back she did. Even though she won this fight she was eventually stopped by Four because she was still beating Molly. This was a scene NOT shown in the movie.
All in All, I enjoyed both the book and the movie a lot. I actually seen the movie before I got far in the book, so I personally like them both equally. I do think the movie could have used more scenes from the book and that would've made the more even better than it already is. I do understand that people worked hard to create that movie and it is was worth it. Four (Theo James) is extremely hot and a great actor. I am patiently waiting for Insurgent and Allegiant the movies.
